Autumn/Winter 11 Trend Spotlight

7 Sep

Androgyny is a term—derived from the Greek words ανήρ, stem ανδρ- (anér, andr-, meaning man) and γυνή (gyné, meaning woman)—referring to the combination of masculine and feminine characteristics.

Don’t worry you don’t have to do a Lady Gaga and look like you’ve just stepped out of a clinic to wear this trend. You can just take a dip.  Wear your shirt buttoned all the way up to the top or simply slick your hair back into a pony and add a deep side parting. From catwalk to high street this is a trend anyone can pull off with ease and take it from day to night.

Top tips for pulling off this trend:

  • Wear button front shirts buttoned up to the top.
  • Focus strong cuts around the shoulder and rib cage area.
  • Doesn’t have to be all shirts and blazers try bold knits too.
  • With a shirt, drape an untied tie around your neck for a casual cool look.
  • Add that feminine touch by adding: heels, plunging necklines, sparkle, soft tailoring or fancy fabrics/accessories.
  • Most importantly, have fun. Try mixing your approach. Tailoring + leather, denim or knits & bold colour!

This is definitely a part of my style. I’m trying to be more feminine, but the tomboyish traits still show up. I really like fedoras, suspenders, button down shirts, and oxford shoes. 🙂
