Locked And Loaded!

18 May

Lately I’ve been having major dilemmas. I’ll find an AMAZING item of clothing that is very unlikely to be found on every other girl around town and 9 times out of10 its an international brand so the shipping is almost as expensive as the thing I want to buy. Argh!

These Machine Gun Stockings by Singapore based brand The Cult Label are a breath of fresh air since everyone and their mother started wearing the Henry Holland style stocking tights. Edgy and original.

I don’t usually share these cool finds with friends until I’ve bought it and worn it but this is unfortunately sold out (however a similar version is now available) and on top of that the ‘nude’ shade of the actual stockings could look really wrong on my brown skin tone so don’t want to risk it. But heck I can’t keep these to myself they are just too much!! I need these in my life somehow..fingers crossed they will be stocked in a light denier black or no doubt some brand will knock them off (most likely be Top Shop lol)

This is the first i’ve seen from The Cult Label and trawling through the stock I want or like every other thing. Definitely the place to cop a few things to jazz up your wardrobe and make a change from the usual UK high street finds.

What do you think of these.. Yay or Nay?!

Chanel Iman shoots for L’Officiel Paris

28 Jan

In the February issue of L’Officiel Paris we see Chanel Iman adorn some beautiful looks from the top fashion houses which are what L’Officiel Paris deem to be big for the season. My top two looks come from Ralph Lauren and Paul & Joe.

Chanel Iman is in an ultra flattering reworked version of a shirt dress teamed with a tie and a boyfriend blazer by Ralph Lauren. This look is a female contemporary take on Michael Jackson, think Smooth Criminal & Moonwalker the movie.

Full of colour texture and print, this daring look is a cool take on street chic by Paul & Joe.

Kanye West at Paris Fashion Week!

23 Sep

1st October 2011. This date marks the presentation of rapper Kanye West and his first womens wear collection. Mr West has been helped in designing his S/S12 collection by rumoured high profile designers and those designs will grace the runways at Paris Fashion Week.

Kanye West at the Burberry Prorsum SS12 LFW catwalk show

This is definitely a collection not to be missed. What do you think, will it be a yay or nay for Kanye?

Ethnic Brit – Burberry Prorsum S/S12 (LFW)

20 Sep

Monday 19th September saw the most iconic luxury British fashion label take to the runway at London Fashion Week once again. Front row was filled with the biggest names in fashion and music. Vogue editor Anna Wintour, Kanye West, Ellie Goulding and face of the latest Burberry Body campaign and Transformers leading lady Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to name a few.

Opening their Spring/Summer 2012 collection with the smooth vocals of Joss Stone Burberry Prorsum presented an amazing collection of jewel tones, playful stripes and African tribal influenced prints whilst managing to stay true to its British heritage. This opulent culture mix was achieved by keeping the classic Prorsum base and topping it off with exotic treats. Trench coats with weaved waist belts, pleated midi skirts teamed with Aztec inspired embellished tops, tribal printed outerwear and cute striped bobble hats.

Christopher Bailey offered a casual glam look to this collection. Flattering frame skimming shillouettes, midi length skirts. A Burberry Prorsum collection isn’t complete without a statement outerwear piece which this season was unusually NOT a trench. The show closed with a weaved sleeve fur trimmed parka.

My favourite piece!

Overall verdict is a 10/10 from Pleats, Rhymes & Life. What do you think?

Full Throttle (NYFW)

Alexander Wang doesn’t disappoint this season. Keeping it modern and spunky there was a strong BMX and NASCAR influence. The SS12 collection features a mixture of laser cut mesh, nylon, velvet and printed fabrics.

The runway show began with boxy shapes merging into eye catching prints and softer shapes which were then sucked into sleek form fitting ensembles that then fell into a more relaxed feel. The distinctive groups within the collection flowed very well from one to the other exploring print, texture and shape.

If you love shoes check out Got Hot Feet for their latest feature on Alexander Wang footwear.
